Training and Career Pathways

Security Technician

SECOM run a comprehensive staff training program. SECOM’s training caters for three main parties, the staff member for their personal career pathway, the Company to ensure a good balance and depth of quality resource is always available and our clients whose product of choice must be supported to the highest level.

During 2011, SECOM started working with ETITO (now Skills NZ) to encourage all staff to attain their National Certificate in Electronic Security Level 3 qualification. At that time the majority of our staff were already trained to this standard and several staff embarked on developing a Record of Prior Learning to attain their NZQA qualification, while others engaged in our apprenticeship program as mentors and assessors, passing on their knowledge to our newer technicians.

SECOM has a commitment to the security industry to contribute skilled tradespeople who will follow best practice standards, by starting two candidates per year on an apprenticeship program. SECOM apprentices combine academic learning toward attaining their NZQA qualification supported by Skills NZ, with on the job knowledge and experience across multiple technical roles over a three year period.

Monitoring Operator

If you enjoy a highly automated call center environment and don’t mind shift work then you might suit a role as a monitoring operator. Operators are fully trained in-house and hold security licenses.

Customer Service Helpdesk

SECOM operate a Helpdesk for our customers. Based at our Auckland, Albany office these roles have regular business hours. Customer service is paramount for SECOM – our customers rely on the Service Helpdesk Team to get the right Technician with the right tools, on site, fast. It takes a minimum of 6 months on the job to be fully trained in this role. We are looking for service minded individuals with a sharp mind, great computing and excellent communication skills.
